The BLADE is a
two-seat flexwing in the traditional Mainair style.
First built in 1994, with over 350 flying around the
world today.
First solo around the world with champion pilot
Colin Bodill, the Mainair Blade is a true
thoroughbred with an impeccable pedigree.
The aircrafts revolutionary wing features an 85%
double surface with internal floating cross tubes
and washout rods along with an in-flight trimmer for
cruise speeds from 55mph – 68mph.
The trike unit is available with a full choice of
Rotax engines and boasts a wide spacious pod with
fully enclosed sealed nose-wheel and plenty of foot
room.
Additional features include a parking brake and both
foot and T-grip hand throttles. Electric start is
standard on the Rotax 582, 912 & 912S engines, with
the Warp Drive propeller is standard for all engine
options.
In the air finned wheel spats aid directional
stability and aerofoil suspension legs reduce drag.
The trailing link front suspension ensures a safe
run-out even after a less than perfect arrival and
the full all-round suspension will iron out even the
roughest of fields.
For stopping power there are rear drum brakes, which
also allow for easy power checks and precise ground
control. In the air handling is exceptional, stable
enough to cope with the roughest turbulence, but
light enough for effortless flying.
